Accumulator calculator: multiply your legs, see the return and the real probability

TipsQuant editorial team · Updated

This accumulator calculator does one job: you type in the decimal odds of each leg and your stake, and it shows the combined odds, the total return and the profit. Add or remove legs as you build a slip. It works for a double, a treble or a ten-fold, and for any decimal odds a bookmaker in Kenya, Nigeria, Uganda, Tanzania, Ghana or Zambia will quote. Nothing you enter is stored.

Total odds: 1.00

Potential return: 100.00 · Profit: 0.00

How the numbers are worked out

The total odds of an accumulator are the odds of every leg multiplied together. Two legs at 1.80 give 3.24; add a third at 1.50 and the slip pays 4.86. The return is the stake multiplied by the total odds, and the profit is the return minus the stake. Bookmakers round slightly differently and some apply a tax or a bonus to accumulators, so the figure in your app may differ by a few shillings, naira or cedis; the calculator shows the plain multiplication.

From odds to probability, and back

Decimal odds hide a probability. Divide one by the odds and you have the implied chance of that leg: 1.80 implies about 56%, 1.50 about 67%. Multiply the implied chances of all the legs and you have the implied chance of the whole slip. A treble at 4.86 implies roughly 21%. That is what makes the calculator a fair odds calculator as well as a bet calculator: once you know the probability of each leg, the fair odds of the acca are one divided by the product. The probabilities on our tip pages, such as the prediction for today tables, can be fed straight in. Remember that bookmaker prices include a margin, so a bookmaker's implied probabilities add up to more than 100% and will overstate each leg's real chance.

System bets and other slips

A Yankee, a Trixie or a Lucky 15 is a set of smaller accumulators placed together, so one losing leg does not empty the slip. This calculator does not price those system bets: each line must be computed separately and the stake split across the lines. It also does not model "acca insurance" or early payout promotions, which depend on each bookmaker's terms. The how to bet page explains the main slip types in plain words.

Before you build a long slip

Every extra leg multiplies the odds and divides the chance. The sure 2 odds and 5 sure odds pages show how our model reaches a target price with the fewest strong legs, and why it prefers short slips. Any bet can lose, and a long accumulator loses most of the time by design. Stake only what you can afford to lose, and bet only if you are aged 18+.
